Public Enemies is a 2009 American crime film co-written and directed by Michael Mann. Set during the Great Depression, it focuses on the true story of Bureau of Investigation agent Melvin Purvis (Christian Bale)’s attempt to stop criminals John Dillinger (Johnny Depp), Baby Face Nelson (Stephen Graham), and Pretty Boy Floyd (Channing Tatum). The film is an adaptation of Bryan Burrough’s non-fiction book Public Enemies: America’s Greatest Crime Wave and the Birth of the FBI, 1933–34.

Hancock is a 2008 American action-comedy superhero film directed by Peter Berg and starring Will Smith, Jason Bateman, and Charlize Theron. It tells the story of a vigilante superhero, John Hancock, played by Smith, from Los Angeles whose reckless actions routinely cost the city millions of dollars. Eventually one person he saves, Ray Embrey, played by Bateman, makes it his mission to change Hancock’s public image for the better.

The story was originally written by Vincent Ngo in 1996. It languished in development hell for years and had various directors attached, including Tony Scott, Michael Mann, Jonathan Mostow, and Gabriele Muccino before going into production in 2007. Hancock was filmed in Los Angeles with a production budget of $150 million.

The film was released on July 31, 2009 in North America, and on August 28, 2009 in the United Kingdom. Funny People implements more dramatic elements than seen in Apatow’s previous films. The film was co-produced by Apatow Productions and Mr. Madison 23 Productions, a subsidiary of Sandler’s company Happy Madison. Universal Studios and Columbia Pictures co-financed the film; Universal also served as a worldwide distributor.

The film is a sequel to The Bourne Supremacy and the third film of the Bourne Series. Matt Damon reprises his role as Ludlum’s signature character, former CIA assassin and psychogenic amnesiac Jason Bourne. The film continues the saga of Jason Bourne as he escapes from authorities in Moscow, Russia, and follows the character as he travels to Paris, London, Madrid, Tangier, and New York City to uncover his real identity, while the CIA continues to send assassins after him. The film co-starred Julia Stiles, David Strathairn, Scott Glenn, Paddy Considine, Edgar Ramirez, Albert Finney, and Joan Allen. The script was by Tony Gilroy, Scott Z. Burns, George Nolfi, and an uncredited Tom Stoppard. The producers were Patrick Crowley, Frank Marshall, Paul L. Sandberg, and Doug Liman, who directed the first Bourne movie, The Bourne Identity.

Paranormal Activity is a 2007 independent horror film written and directed by Oren Peli. The movie premiered at the Screamfest Film Festival in the U.S. on October 14, 2007, and was shown at the Slamdance Film Festival on January 18, 2008. The movie received a limited release in several U.S. cities on October 9, 2009, and had a nationwide release on October 16, 2009. The movie centers on a young couple, Katie and Micah, who are haunted by a supernatural presence in their home. The movie is presented in a documentary style, using footage from the camera set up by the couple to capture what is haunting them, in a similar manner to The Blair Witch Project, and The Last Broadcast. It has set the record as the most profitable independant film ever made having earned over $100 million with a production budget of $15,000.

Saw VI is a 2009 horror film directed by Kevin Greutert and written by Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan. The film was released on October, 23 2009 in North America, which followed the tradition of being released the Friday before Halloween; it also followed tradition of being released in New Zealand and Australia a day earlier. It stars Tobin Bell, Costas Mandylor and Betsy Russell. It is the sixth installment of the Saw film series. Kevin Greutert, who served as the editor for all the previous Saw, made his directorial debut with Saw VI. Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, the writers for both Saw IV and V, returned to write the film. Charlie Clouser, who provided the score for all previous Saw films, also returned to compose the score for the film.
